Protecting Yourself from Staffing Scams

Staffing and employment scams are increasingly common. Scammers impersonate legitimate companies to steal personal information or money from job seekers. This page explains how to recognize fraudulent activity, verify legitimate Swipejobs communications, and report suspected scams.

Fake Job Offers

Scammers may send unsolicited job offers that sound too good to be true. These often promise high pay with minimal qualifications and require upfront payments or personal financial information before any work begins. Legitimate employers will never ask you to pay to get a job.

Payment and Fee Scams

Be cautious of any request for processing fees, training material costs, equipment deposits, or other payments before employment begins. Legitimate staffing companies do not charge workers to apply for or start a job. If someone asks you to send money or purchase gift cards as part of the hiring process, it is a scam.

Identity Theft

Scammers may request sensitive personal information early in the process, including Social Security numbers, bank account details, or copies of government-issued identification. This information should only be provided during a legitimate onboarding process after you have verified the employer and accepted a real job offer.

Phishing Communications

How to Report Suspected Fraud
